Yandex Telephone has introduced a new smartphone to rival the Google Pixel smartphones with its own voice assistant Alissa. The Russian search engine Yandex wants to counter-attack and protect its domestic market with its new flagship.

Apart from the voice assistant Alissa, there is nothing extraordinary about the handset. Under the toe, the handset runs on the Snapdragon 630 chipset with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. Sadly, there is no separate slot for microSD cards, but you can use a hybrid solution to use a single SIM card along with a microSD card. You can expand the storage up to 128 gigabytes. The handset comes along with a 5.65” LCD with Full HD+ resolution and no notch.

The voice assistant Alissa can do basic stuff like call a specific person or schedule an alarm. Additionally, it will tell you the ETA on your commute, prepare you for the weather and will remind you to turn on the music.

Rest, the smartphone has a decent 3,050 mAh battery, and you can charge it quickly by Quick Charge 3.0. The handset has a USB-C port, and also you can use the NFC for wireless payments. Yandex Telephone runs on Android 8.1 with Yandex Launcher on top. Also, the company offers cases similar to the fabric cases from Google.

The offering price of the Yandex Telephone is RUB17,990 ($270/€235).
