The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is finally official after extensive leaks from last two months. The handset has some flagship grade specifications with a Snapdragon 845, 10Gigs of RAM and an almost full-screen display. Well, other interesting features on this handset includes a magnetic slider for its selfie camera and 5G connectivity.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 price
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 price has been set at CNY3,299 ($474/€420)in China. At this price, you can grab this smartphone with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Further, the variant with 8GB/128 GB alteration will set you back at CNY3,599 ($515/€450). Also, there is the third variant that comes with 8GB/256GB configuration, this model will cost you CNY3,999 ($575/€505). Also, all the three versions come along with a 10W fast charger and a case inside the box.
The highlight of the show is the model with 10GB RAM, and Xiaomi calls this variant as the Forbidden City. Well, this handset comes in a different hue of Blue. Also, this handset will come with a gold-plated statue of a mythical Chinese creature in the box. This variant will make it’s way to the market at CNY4,999 ($720/€630).
The handset is up for pre-orders starting from today with actual sales starting from November 1. Note that the more premium Forbidden city edition will start selling towards the end of November.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 specifications
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is a dual sim smartphone. The smartphone has a 6.4” AMOLED screen with FHD+ (1080 x 2160) resolution. The display has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and Xiaomi claims a massive 93.4% screen-to-body ratio on the smartphone. The rear part of the smartphone is mounted on a magnetic slider. The slider hides a dual camera setup as a part of selfie cameras that we will talk of later.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with either 6GB/8GB or 10GB of RAM. Well, for storage Xiaomi offers either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, and the storage is not expandable via a microSD card slot. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 packs a whopping 4,000 mAh battery. And, it has support for fast charging via the USB-C connector on the bottom of the device. Also, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 comes along with the Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0+ support to enhance the charging experience on the handset. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 on top. Also, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack on the handset.
The Mi Mix 3 will sport a hardware button on the left side for the Xiao AI assistant. The Xiao AI is China exclusive, and the button will trigger the Google Assistant in other markets. The phone arrives in three colors – Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, and Onyx Black.
Interestingly, the Mi Mix 3 has a 5G version, although that’s only coming in Q1 of 2019. This variant will be exclusive for European and Chinese markets only.
Mi Mix 3 CAMERA
The Mi Mix 3 comes with a dual camera setup on the rear. The primary camera is a 12MP Sony IMX363 camera module with f/1.8 aperture and featuring big 1.4μm pixels. The pairing sensor is a 12MP camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.0µm pixel size.
On the front, we’ve got a 24 MP + 2 MP front combo when slid out. The primary camera 24MP camera is a Sony IMX576 camera sensor. Well, this sensor can achieve an impressive1.8µm pixel size by 4-pixel binning in low-light environments. Its resolution is effectively reduced to 6MP in those conditions though.
The most impressive part of this camera is the new Night Mode on the camera that lets you take long exposure shots in low light. We’ve seen this feature on Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but after seeing a side-by-side comparison of the Mi Mix 3 and P20 Pro Night mode shots, the Mix 3 easily outperforms its rival.
Lastly, now the smartphone can 960 fps slow-mo videos with auto background music, with the help of the AI engine. The whole Camera experience in the smartphone revolves around AI only
