Xiaomi disables the ability to flash Global ROM on its Chinese phones with Miui 10


Xiaomi’s smartphones cost less inside China than they do outside. Now, because of this a lot of people outside China import MI smartphone from the other parts of the world. Well, Xiaomi has not got well aware of this and now the company has blocked the installation of its Global ROM on its China-bound phones.

We all know that Google services are banned in China. Besides, MIUI in China replaces the Google services and has some other minor tweaks. Now, there is one more difference, the MI phones that we buy in Gray markets of China has a way to enable the Play services. Further, these smartphones usually come with a lot of Chinese bloatware that people avoid. On the other hand, the Global MIUI phones come with the Google Play services and have no bloatware.

So, in order to stay away from MI phones full of bloatware, people import cheap smartphones from China and install Global ROMs on them that has no bloatware. But now, you will no longer be able to flash Global ROM on a Xiaomi intended for the Chinese market and vice-versa.

Now, because of this a lot of people in the Mi forums are angry about this development. Now, it’s not clear that this update will affect the present devices or not. But, reports say that you can flash whatever ROM you want on phones with an unlocked bootloader.

Lastly, Xiaomi recommends buying Mi phones from its official stores or from Mi authorized retailers.
