vivo invests about $560M in new smartphone plant in India


The Chinese companies are now burgeoning their business with leaps and bounds in India. One such company in India is vivo. Besides that, the company is presently manufacturing smartphones in India, without paying additional taxes and import tariffs.

The company is now planning to expand its 50-acre (202 thousand sq.m) facility in New Delhi. Above all, vivo may expand the facility with an additional169 acres of land (about 684 thousand sq.m). A new manufacturing plant. Besides that, the company may invest nearly $560/€500 million for the construction of this new plant.

Interestingly, the deal on expansion of the vivo plant in Uttar Pradesh was approved by state chief minister Shri Yogi Adityanath. According to the company’s representatives, the current plant yields over 2 million smartphones per month and employs over 5,000 people.

The growth of vivo plant in India is beneficial as it will create additional job opportunities, wage growth, and skill development. Besides that, the first wave of expansion will employ about 5,000 more jobs to expand the facilities. We expect the company to increase the production of smartphones by 50 million.
