Gone are the days when rotating bezel was the signature feature on Galaxy watches. In other words, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is official and gets a digital rotating bezel feature, instead of the physical hardware. While the new design maximizes the screen real estate on your wrist, we’ll miss the classic design of Galaxy Watch.
TWO SIZES – 40mm and 44mm
In the first place, the Galaxy Watch Active comes in two size – 40mm and 44mm – and two styles. First, we have got the vanilla aluminum body version with soft fluoroelastomer material strap. Second, we’ve got a more premium stainless steel watch body with a leather strap.

Important to realize, both the 40mm and 44mm watches come with a standard 20mm band. Well, that means one can swap the strap with the material of its own choice. The all-new OneUI now uses a virtual bezel on the Super AMOLED display, and have some interesting features. On the positive side, one can color coordinate the watch face with its clothes. All you need to do is, snap a photo of your outfit using the new My Style feature of the Galaxy Wearables app.
The Apple Watch 4 Borrowed Features.
To improve the optical heart rate reader, Samsung has put 8 LEDs on the rear of the Galaxy Watch 2. That means, the watch will now take faster heart rate readings. Notably, the new model also gains an electrocardiogram feature (ECG) similar to the Apple Watch 4. Well, the feature will track your wellness and sleep.
As the name Active Suggests.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 Active, as the name suggests “Active” in its name, tracks 39 different types of workouts. The freshest update of the Running coach now allows real-time tracking in seven unique modes. Well, it makes the use of GPS, a barometer and accelerometer to track your workout. The watch tracks your stress level like the previous iterations. But, Most importantly, there’s a Calm app on the watch to track your sleep along with some guided meditation programs (in English, Spanish, and German).
Protection is Important
Given all of these features, there are some other important features, as well. For instance, the watch retains 5ATM water resistance and IP68 rating. Also, the Gorilla Glass DX+ is present on the watch to prevent it from shattering.
What are the Specifications?
The Specifications on the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 are as expected. On the front, there’s a Super AMOLED screen with 360 x 360px resolution, and the watch runs on Tizen OS with elegant One UI on its top. Under the hood is an Exynos 9110 chipset with 768MB of RAM. There’s an LTE version as well, and it has got 1.5GB of RAM and a stainless steel build.
Loaded With Media & Notifications
The latest watch from Samsung is a social media loaded watch. One can watch and reply to its Tweets, Whatsapp and Facebook conversations, and a lot more. Also, there now exists a YouTube application for the Galaxy Watch Active 2. The real-time voice and text translation are also possible in over 16 languages.
Interesting enough, Samsung’s partnership with Spotify reflects on the watch as well. It means one can enjoy music on the go by signing in its Samsung’s account for Spotify. To the surprise, one can also click photographs with the latest Galaxy Watch 2 Active.
Pre-orders and Pricing.
By all means, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 Active is hard to beat, Samsung’s version of a smartwatch. The watch is already in production, but you have to wait till September 6 to pre-order. The watch will start shipping on or after 26th, where the standard aluminum version costs $280 for the 40mm size. On the other hand, the 44mm version sets back at $300. For those who pre-order, their unit will also get a free Wireless Charger Portable Battery.
The more premium stainless steel model with LTE connectivity will also arrive soon. We are not aware of the pricing, but in the USA it will be available at AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon. These carriers will start selling the Galaxy Watch 2 Active starting September 27, 2019.
