Qualcomm is making big announcements today with the 5G ready smartphones. While the big smartphone manufacturing companies are joining the wave of 5G ready smartphones, the company has a quite lot to offer. Qualcomm in its event makes the gaming-based Snapdragon 675 chipset official. The chipset now has new CPU cores as an upgrade from the still new Snapdragon 670 chipset.
The big improvements in the processor come with the Kryo 40 cores. Now, two of these cores have the new Cortex-A76 for performance that can reach up to 2GHz clock speeds. The remaining six cores on the chipset are for efficiency and are based on Cortex A55. Also, the ISP and the GPU on the chipset remains the same as in the Snapdragon 670, respectively Spectra 250 and Adreno 612.
Well, for gaming the chipset includes engines like Unity, Unreal, Messiah, and, NeoX. Also, some of the popular gaming API’s on this smartphone includes Vulkan, OpenGL 3.2, OpenCL, and Snapdragon profiler.
The chipset can support triple cameras up to 16MP or a single shooter with the 25MP camera sensor. Also, a few changes come in the form of new multi-core AI Engine, promising to deliver up to 50% overall improvements.
For connectivity, the chipset supports Dual VOLTE, Bluetooth 5.1, and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac with MIMO 2×2. Cat.12 support on the chipset can deliver up to 600 Mbps. The chipset will be seen in mid-range smartphones starting in early 2019.
