Oppo is completing its first wave of testing the 5G capabilities on the Oppo R15. Besides that, if you don’t remember, the company started testing the 5G connectivity on its handset two months past. Today, the VP of OPPO along with the President of the Business Department in China Brain Sheen posted an image on Weibo. Besides that, this image shows the first 5G handset from the company, and open’s the company webpage over 5G speeds.
Interestingly, this handset is the same old Oppo R15 with a fully functional 5G system board including RF, RFFE, and antenna modules on the board. Also, all these tests come from the same laboratory where Oppo teased back the X50 modem from Snapdragon back in August. According to Oppo, it will be the first company to launch the first 5G commercial handset in the markets.
Note that Oppo and Qualcomm are working together to bring the technology to the Oppo smartphones. Also, the partnership between the two companies was announced recently at the Beijing 2018 Qualcomm China Technology and Cooperation Summit. The announcement comes as a response to the OnePlus claim of launching a 5G flagship by 2019. We assume the first 5G handset from OnePlus may be the OnePlus 7.
