Oppo has made available some cool camera technology available at an event to today. The company showcased a 10x camera setup, and the results get possible with the help of, a triple camera setup. That’s not all! The company also revealed a UD fingerprint reader with more surface area. The company announces these technologies on slides. The real demo smartphone will be available by MWC 2019.
The 10x hybrid optical zoom on the cameras is impressive. The manufacturer combines the 5x optical zoom with a wide-angle lens. The effective output of the arrangement results in 10 times zoom. The third module in the arrangement takes regular snaps in the middle, but it doesn’t affect the zoom range. The modules cover the 35mm equivalent of 15.9-159mm focal length.
The new camera modules from Oppo have a lot of new features, as well. There will exist Dual OIS image stabilization for the primary camera and the tele lens. The setup comes after experimenting with 100+R&D patents from the company. The company did an extensive test around 28,000 times before announcing the technology. The technology will ship to the smartphone next year, and the company will showcase the first samples from the camera in Barcelona, next month.
Additionally, the company brings a bigger under-display scanner technology to the markets. Well, this is similar to the implementation from Xiaomi, earlier today. The sensor is 15 times larger than the ones present on the Oppo R17. Also, it can read two fingers at the same time. The technology is not new. We’ve seen a similar implementation with vivo Apex, last year.
We expect to see the new biometrics to arrive the handsets by the end of this year.
