OnePlus made its first R&D facility center official in India. The facility center based in Hyderabad and the engineers over the center will play a crucial role in the evolution of AI and machine learning-related applications for OnePlus devices. Also, the team will work on the software features that are more relevant to the users in India.
According to OnePlus, the company circles in Hyderabad considering some important factors. The company wants to issue a campus hiring program at a number of universities. Well, it includes the IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay this year. Also, the Hyderabad has one the largest IT and computer science sectors in India, that suites the demands of OnePlus.
“It (Hyderabad) offers a sizeable pool of talent that the global smartphone maker sees great value in deploying and honing to suit the needs of its signature premium consumer experience,” it statement said.
Interestingly, OnePlus has a huge market in Hyderabad. OnePlus will embark the offline sales in India with OnePlus Experience Store in Hyderabad.
“In three years, we plan to grow the new R&D center in Hyderabad into our biggest globally. We plan to re-focus our R&D efforts on a large scale and drive innovations in India for the global product, especially on the software side with a special emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning,” said Pete Lau, Founder, and CEO, OnePlus while discussing the company’s plans in India.
Well, India is a massive market for smartphones. The growth rate for OnePlus in the country is more than 100%. OnePlus has begun the local production of PCBs in India. Also, the company commits to the Make in India program.
