We all know that Samsung and Huawei will bring its foldable smartphones by Q2-Q3 of 2019. While both these manufacturers are competing with each other, we’ve forgotten that LG is the second largest producer of OLED screens in the world. It seems like LG is secretly working to bring a foldable smartphone in 2019. Latest trademarks from the company further confirm to us that the company is indeed working on a foldable smartphone.
As spotted by LetsGoDigital (via Engadget), the company has applied to trademark the names Flex, Foldi, and Duplex for its upcoming foldable smartphone. LG applied for the patent on November 21 at the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
Don’t get me wrong here, as it’s not official that these are the trademarks for the foldable smartphones. All these things are our speculations by studying the market demands. Also, we know that LG is developing a foldable phone. So, this is the reason that we are relating the trademarks to the foldable smartphone tech from LG.
We all are familiar with the LG G Edge phone and its Super Edge display by now. So, it might be that these trademark names may not come to the final handsets in the market. Also, the Flex name can relate to the already available LG G Flex series. Flex seems like an appropriate name for a spiritual sequel.
Interestingly, the only leaks that we’ve for now come from Evan Blass. Well, we trust our sources and expect LG to unveil its first foldable device at CES 2019 in January. For now, we can only imagine LG beating its competition, but the real dates are not so far. Well, we will keep you update for the LG flexible smartphone before it gets official.
