hisilicon-kirin-chipset- Kirin 980 SoC

Huawei is one of the top mobile companies in the world. Last year, the company had a huge success with Kirin 970 SoC. Now, it’s no secret that the company is working on the successor of Kirin 970 SoC. Besides that, we are sure that the Mate 20 lineup will have the new Kirin 980 SoC stick inside it.

Surely, we are anticipating a top-notch performance gain and efficiency from this chipset. Now, if we believe in these benchmark’s given below, then the SoC is definitely up-to our expectations. Such a performance is the outcome of the 7nm manufacturing process by TSMC.

Unquestionably, these screenshots are shot from a Chine hardware identification tool. This confirms that the Kirin 980 will run octa-core CPU in 4x Cortex-A77 + 4x Cortex-A55 configuration. The Top clusters have a clock speed of 2.8 GHz while the clock speeds of the small Cortex-A55 cores are still unknown.

The Chipset will pair an LPDDR4X RAM with a Mali-G72 MP24 GPU. This GPU is twice the power of Mali-G72 MP12 with twice the number of cores. That will make the gaming experience truly extensive especially with the GPU turbo boost technology.

Huawei is already teasing their new flagships, against the Note9 from the Samsung. Besides that, the company will use a second-generation NPU to deliver those AI-driven features and a triple ISP to make the image processing faster.

Huawei will announce the SoC at IFA o August 30, and following this, the Mate 20 will see a day of launch in October.
