The gesture-based navigation on the iPhone X was a new direction towards the mobile experience. Later on, a lot of Android manufacturing companies made this feature available as an option in their UI. And, now it seems that we are quickly moving towards the gesture-based navigation as a whole on our smartphones. Now, the Google Pixel 3 duo is the very first Android smartphone with no software buttons. The entire experience on the new Pixels has the new navigation gestures. So, unlike the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, now you cannot choose between the software keys and the gestures.
Can you disable the gesture navigation like the pixel 2 or do you have to use it?

Further, Google confirms this in a tweet by @madebygoogle. And, it looks like Google will implement the same for their older generation pixels.
Lastly, the tweet raises some valid questions. And, these are regarding the Navigation on Android devices from other OEM’s running on Android Pie. One such question is that will the custom Android ROMs have the option of keeping the software buttons? Only time will tell, we guess.
