Facebook Dating app is the first dating product launched by the social media giant at its F8 developer conference. The idea of dating may remind us of the first social experiment done by Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook now looks to have begun testing this dating features internally.
Jane Manchun Wong ( Twitter- @wongmjane ), an App researcher posted a tweet saying that she can’t go past the signup screen because they are not activating all non-employee Dating profiles. Well, it’s a “pre-launch” and, we expect the things to roll out soon.
As seen in the screenshots this early launch product is just for the US Facebook employees. These employees have opted-in to dogfooding Facebook’s new dating product. The central objective of these screens is to test the end-to-end user experience and let the Facebook team know the bugs. The screenshots give a tour of the basic UI and mention that the test is not for dating co-workers.
Facebook has done a great job regarding the privacy and concerns features in this product. You have full control to decide whether your friends or friend of friends can check out your dating profile or not.
This dating feature is not a stand-alone application from Facebook. Instead, it would be accessible for free in the Facebook app itself, at least as for now.
Once you have a Facebook ID, you can turn on the feature in the settings menu. From there you have to choose a gender identity (male, female, or other trans-gender options) to show up against your profile. Then you can pick a category you’re interested in, your location, bio and that’s all.
So, what do you think? Will this Facebook Dating product will make yourself find your true love? Or will it be just another casual hookup dating product? Kindly let us know in the comment’s section below.
