Andy Rubin is a big name in the current industry of Mobile and Software development. Well, Andy is the person behind the advent of Android, and he is the one behind the startup Essential Phone. Though the company did not make any big strides this year, the company is striving to do more for the year 2019. Now, the Essential has just acquired the Indian email startup CloudMagic with no words on the paid value.
In case you don’t know about CloudMagic, it is a Bengaluru-based startup founded by Rohit Nandhani. At the time of shutdown of Netwon App, the CloudMagic Said, it would “continue to operate and the incredible team will be focusing on new and innovative projects.”
Interestingly, the news comes hot on the heels of the shutdown of the Newton app. With that said, we still don’t know that what plans does the company have for the Newton app. We expect the company to rebuild the application as a significant EMAIL application for its new next iteration of the Essential Phone.
Moreover, we may see the expertise from CloudMagic to build AI on the upcoming Essential phone.
Reflecting on the acquisition, an Essential spokesperson said, “We are always on the lookout for companies with great technology and talent to help accelerate our product roadmap.”
The acquisition by Essential phone excites me a ton. Ever since the first Essential Phone, this is the first major announcement from the company. The company never managed to sell a lot many smartphones. But, the acquisition may surprise up with AI smartphone in 2019. Anyways, we are keeping our eye’s on Essential. We hope, the company to bring some game-changing products in the nearing future.
