is just announced in India and is the latest and greatest flagship offering from the company. The company states that this, “fulfills the bezel-less vision” of consumers around the globe. Vivo grasps this as an opportunity to be able to create the hype of the device throughout the world. With all this hype and attention towards the brand, Vivo has officially launched the Vivo NEX in India. Originally named as NEX S, the company decided to call it just The NEX for Indian markets. Based on Vivo Apex, that was already a very innovative conceptual device from the company, the final product in the name of NEX also shares a lot of workarounds from the same.
The Vivo NEX has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and Adreno 630 GPU powering it up, along with an 8GB of LPDDR4x ram. The front is a 6.95-inch FullHD+ (1080×2316 px) display with 19.3:9 aspect ratio, and a moderate 388ppi pixel density. There is also a 128GB of internal UFS2.1 storage, and all of these things are backed up by a beefy 4,000mAh battery with dual charging technology. The Vivo NEX comes pre-loaded with Android Oreo 8.1, with a layer of custom designed Funtouch OS 4.0 over it. The software also, has support for Qualcomm’s true 4G, allowing two Volte connections at one time.’
The motorized madness continues with the elevating selfie camera that pops escape from the top edge of the phone when needed. This elevating front camera workaround has helped the company to deliver a near bezel-less display with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24 percent.
The elevating selfie camera on this device is an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture, while on the back you may find a dual camera setup. The primary 12MP camera lens is the dual-pixelated IMX 363 with f/1.8 aperture and 4-axis OIS. There is further a 5MP camera module with a f/2.4 aperture that assists the primary camera lens. The persistence of the second lens is to produce fake bokeh effects.
One oddity about the Vivo NEX is the glass-vibrating “screen soundcasting technology,” that replaces the more traditional earpiece speaker. The sound output is crisp and clear in first hands, but only a full review will do the justice.
Another element that makes this device unique is the in-display fingerprint scanner but, unlike the Apex phone, this one doesn’t cover a large area of the screen. The implementation seems to be similar from, the Vivo X21 UD but there is a different, “third generation” solution powering this up, to make the things feel a lot snappier.
