New reports from Counterpoint Research reveals that Xiaomi tops to be the most selling smartphone company in India in Q3 2018. Well, Xiaomi retains its place to be No. 1 for the fifth consecutive quarter. According to the reports, Xiaomi leads the market with a 27% market share. The remaining 23% market stays with Samsung and, the 10% market share is with vivo. Surprisingly, Micromax makes the fourth position in the market with 9% market share. Also, Oppo is taken down to the fifth position with just 8% market share.

The reports say that Xiaomi has seen 24% more sales from the Previous quarter, and 5% more shipments on yearly basis. Also, the shipments surpass the sales in the United States. A research analyst at Counterpoint says that the number of users in India exceeded 400 million. Well, that makes India the second biggest smartphone market in the world, following China.

Further, the shipments for Xiaomi in Q2 accounts for the handsets retailing between $150 and $250 in India. Also, the Pocophone F1 arrival helped Xiaomi reinforce Xiaomi’s lead in India. Well, Samsung’s J-series smartphones in India, including Galaxy J6, Galaxy j8, and Galaxy j2 Core are responsible for boosting the sales for the company.

Lastly, the Micromax presence in the list is a surprise to us. We’ve seen no major smartphone release from the company this year. For a simple explanation, the company won a contract with the state government of Chhattisgarh, India. Micromax, along with Reliance Jio, distributed over 5 million smartphones to women and students in an ambitious plan to make the citizens more connected. Well, we expect Micromax to fall back in next quarter.
